Earth Care

Stewarding God’s Creation at Tuckahoe

Tuckahoe Presbyterian is certified as an Earth Care Congregation under the PC(USA) Earth Care Congregations program.  This certification demonstrates our commitment to living out our faith by caring for creation in worship, education, facilities, and outreach.

What Is an Earth Care Congregation?

Churches that take the Earth Care Pledge and complete meaningful actions across four areas—worship, education, facilities, and outreach—can earn official certification. This growing PC(USA) initiative helps congregations align spiritual life with environmental and social justice stewardship.

Why We Do This

Our faith calls us to be caretakers of God’s good creation, echoing the biblical call to “till and keep” the earth (Genesis 2:15). By integrating earth-care into all aspects of church life, we honor that vocation and invite our community into sustainable discipleship.

Tuckahoe’s Earth Care Journey

Our church is actively exploring ways to care for creation together:

  • Incorporating creation-themed worship and prayers
  • Offering educational workshops and Earth Day celebrations
  • Evaluating facilities upgrades to conserve energy and resources
  • Partnering on community eco-justice and social justice outreach efforts
