Blue Christmas Service

Sunday, November 29 at 6pm (Zoom)

There is a tradition in Western Christianity of people coming together during Advent, when there are more hours of darkness than light, to pray and lament and mourn the losses of the year.  2020 has brought with it more loss than we ever expected. Loss of family and friends to sickness, loss of dreams, loss of community, loss of jobs, so much loss.  Lamenting such losses to God is part of our tradition, scripture is full of people calling out to God in anguish and with tears.  So this year, we will come together to engage in the ritual of lament together. We will share anguish, plead with God to remember us, pray for justice and restoration, even to hope against hope, through our doubts and tears and fears, that “God will set things right all over the earth (2 Sam. 2:10).”

Join us for a new book study!

TPC will begin a study of Be the Bridge: Pursing God’s Heart for Racial Reconciliation by Latasha Morrison next Monday, November 9.

“In an era where we seem to be increasingly divided along racial lines, many are hesitant to step into the gap, fearful of saying or doing the wrong thing…With conviction and grace, Morrison examines the historical complexities of racism.  She expertly applies biblical principles, such as lamentation, confession and forgiveness, to lay the framework for restoration.” (from the book cover)

The group will meet via Zoom Monday’s at 6pm beginning Nov. 9 and concluding Dec. 14.

After church fellowship time resumes… COVID style. Do you miss talking with you TPC friends after church? We do too! Beginning Sunday November 1, we will have a 25 minute after church fellowship zoom each Sunday from 11:00AM-11:25AM.

Zoom fellowship is different than in-person, BUT it is still a meaningful way of connecting with our church family. There will be no snacks, but we are still in need of hosts, to facilitate conversation!

We know there are many members in our church who, due to COVID, are not leaving their houses often or who are unable to see family and friends. We want to let these members know we love and care for them during this time, especially with the holidays approaching.  This group will write cards, call members, deliver small gifts such as baked goods or small house plants, or church flowers, etc.
