Deacon’s Meeting
BOARD OF DEACONS
The Board of Deacons for the church is comprised of Deacons who are elected to serve for two-year terms, with a maximum of six consecutive years.
Deacon: Ministry of Compassion and Service*
The ministry of a deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, sincere compassion, and sound judgment should be chosen for this ministry.
Care/Share Groups:
Deacons are each assigned a group of members as their Care/Share group. The deacons stay in touch with these families, passing along news and reaching out to them to check in, particularly when those members are ill or bereaved or have other needs. The church family binds together in times of joy and sorrow. The Board of Deacons meets as needed on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 11:45 a.m.
