Mark Cain, Dir of Music, Retiring

The below letter is from our beloved, Mark Cain, Director of Music Ministries at Tuckahoe Presbyterian for over 30 years…

20 July 2022

The time has come for me to relinquish my role and my responsibilities as your Director of Music Ministries.  I will formally retire at the end of my Summer 2022 leave of Absence, August 31, 2022.   As God’s gift to me I have spent three decades, plus; with Tuckahoe, serving with four interim pastors, and three senior pastors.  After some months of personal examination and prayer, now is the right time for me to retire.  The words are true: ” For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

My mother, Vitrue Cain will celebrate her 96th birthday, July 22, 2022. With this new transition in my life, I will be focusing on her care here in her home, and my boyhood home in Paducah, Kentucky, and managing the farms here more closely.

My heart overflows with rich memories of my tenure at Tuckahoe, and especially with my dear colleague Sarah Cothern.  As time and the situation permits, I will be returning periodically to Richmond, and my home there.

Tuckahoe is on the cusp of a new era of ministry with a new Pastor and staff.  The best days are ahead. Wherever I go, Tuckahoe will be in my heart. I will always love all of my dear Choirs through the years; and remember our times together with great Joy.
