Dr. Rose

Dr. Fred Rose - Head of Staff Pastor

Fred joined our staff in April, 1998. He served the Shelby Church in western North Carolina for fourteen years; he began his ministry in 1979 with the Cameronian Church of Rockingham, NC. He grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His Presbyterian roots led him to Davidson College and eventually Princeton Seminary for study. In 1994, he completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at Columbia Seminary in Decatur, GA focusing on preaching and spiritual guidance. He is married to Georgia Smith Rose, a teacher at J.R. Tucker High School in Henrico County. They have three children, William, Jr., Charlotte; Anna, Washington, DC and Caroline, Greensboro. When Fred is not serving his church, he is sometimes on a golf course or more likely with his family.

“I came to Tuckahoe attracted by this unique congregation’s desire to grow and their commitment to reaching out to the surrounding community. Hidden by a thriving neighborhood, Tuckahoe has been a ‘best kept secret’ of congregations in our area for years. I continue to be excited about being part of Tuckahoe’s ministry in Richmond and beyond.”

Rev. Steven Good - Associate Pastor

Steven joined the staff of Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church in June of 2007.  Prior to his call in Richmond he served as the Assistant Minister of Groomsport Presbyterian Church in Co. Down, Northern Ireland and as the Director of Youth Ministry in congregations in New Jersey and California.  A graduate of California State Univeristy, Bakersfield and Princeton Theological Seminary, Steven is excited to explore with the youth and families of Tuckahoe ways that God's story is attested to in scripture and how that intersects with and shapes our personal stories.  He is passionate about discipleship and encouraging youth to participate in God's mission in the world.

When not reading in his study or visiting members of the congregation, Steven enjoys basketball, ultimate, photography, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Jill, and their son, Graham.

Becky was called to Tuckahoe in February of 2003 with eight years experience in Youth and Children's ministries, five years in elementary education, and five years in preschool education.  She holds both Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Georgia Southern University. Becky believes that it is an awesome honor to serve the children of Tuckahoe and their families, and to walk the Christian journey with them and with the dedicated team of youth and adult volunteers.  She is passionate about the Godly Play approach to religious education and believes that when God calls, God equips.

Her "verse to live by" is Colossians 3:23, "Go all out - whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

Mark Cain

Mark Cain - Director of Music Ministry

Mark came to Tuckahoe in October, 1990.  He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Church Music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

One of his joys is to have seen his Bell Choir "TUCKADINGS" start from Day # 1 and develop into a vibrant, exciting group of musicians playing premier music.  The singing of the Chancel Choir is a much anticipated moment in each Sunday's service among Tuckahoeans.

Psalm 100:2  "Serve the Lord with Gladness: Come before His presence with SINGING ! "

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 6-7)
